AKRON- The boys of Hudson made their presence known at the North Division I Sectional swim meet on Friday as they walked away champions with 394.50. The Explorers had swimmers in six events automatically qualify for the District meet, and several others placed well enough to be possible at-large qualifiers.
Coach Matt Davis said he knew this meet is always a tough one, but was glad his swimmers stepped up and made it to the next level.
“We have a lot of kids that were borderline,” he said. “But they swam well and get a chance to swim next week. With our relays, we made sure we had safe starts. We didn’t want any disqualifications. I think we did what we needed to today, and now it’s just about next week.”
First-place finishes for the Explorers went to the 200-yard medley relay team of sophomore Jimmy Dagley, junior John Zucca, sophomore Adam Motter and junior Alex Lindroth. The team won the even in 1:40.48. Dagley also won the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle race...
