(3/18/2010) FAMILIAR FOES TO MEET By JEFF BREWER They will meet in the OHSAA Division II girls basketball state semifinals on Thursday at the Schottenstein Center: Walsh Jesuit (23-2) vs. defending state champion Hathaway Brown (21-4) at 6 p.m. The biggest question: How relevant is Jan. 9 if at all? Walsh Jesuit won at Hathaway Brown 57-55 on that day, but the Blazers were without starting point guard Alexis Dobbs. Dobbs had undergone arthroscopic knee surgery on Jan. 6 and wound up missing nine games in the middle of the season and still earned All-Ohio special mention. “It will be a different game with her there,” Walsh coach Pete Zaccari said. “It will be the ultimate challenge for our girls. "Both teams know each other very well." The Blazers are making their fourth straight trip to the state semifinals and are led by the three-pronged attack of Ohio Division II Player of the Year Mylan Woods, senior veteran Erica Almady and Dobbs. |
