The Suburban League is busy this week with bowling, basketball, wrestling and even football as Barberton has a new head man who bleeds purple.

 
Basketball
 
The Cloverleaf girls basketball team is the story so far in the state tournament as John Carmigiano’s Colts have back-to-back wins at the Medina Division I Sectional/District. On Saturday they knocked off the second seed in the tournament Avon Lake by one point as Katie Simpson scored a layup with 2.1 seconds to play to complete the upset. 
 
“Our girls have continued to battle throughout the season and their wins and success in the latter part of the season has given this team confidence that they can play with quality teams,” said Carmigiano. The Colts are now 11-11 on the season and Elyria in the district semifinal on Thursday night.
 
“Elyria is a quality opponent that played a very tough schedule and I have a lot of respect for their coaching staff,” said Carmigiano. ...

Brunswick small forward Mikaela Lengal, who led Medina County in scoring, was named honorable-mention All-Ohio in Division I by The Associated Press. The 5-foot-10 senior will continue her career at Ashland University next winter.
