AKRON--The Akron City Series is welcoming two new football coaches.

Kenmore has hired former Cardinals' coach Ed Peltz for a second tour of duty and the Akron Board of Education is expected to soon approve the hiring of 29-year old Mike Laktash as the new head coach at North High School.

For the 56-year old Peltz, it’s a new beginning at a school he’s very familiar with. Peltz just retired in May after 25 years of teaching in the Akron Public Schools system. He spent all but three of those years at Kenmore, including his last stint there as head coach from 1987-89.

Why would Peltz want to get back into coaching after being away 21 years? He says he talked it over with his family and they gave him their support for returning to something he enjoyed. It was family responsibilities which caused Peltz to give up coaching in 1989.
